About UsAs an inventor, when it came time to research how to file for a patent, I found the information available to be overwhelming and difficult to understand. I was already fearful of the process and this made me even more so. Having now navigated the Patent process I want to share the lessons learned and assist you in simplifying the steps by providing you the critical documents and links needed to begin your journey. My story... Several years back, I had a great idea that I wanted to patent. I took the natural first step of meeting with a patent attorney. At this point I had no background in the patent process - so I was unfamiliar with basics such as disclosure documents and keeping a notebook. I had documented the details of how to build my invention, the company name that I was planning to use, and basically everything that I thought the attorney would need to help me get started. Well, when I went to meet the attorney for the first time, he learned that I had not been keeping a detailed notebook related to my invention and that I had not signed any disclosure documents as of yet. He told me that he would obtain a discloser document for me the next time that I came in to meet with him. The result of that meeting was that I learned a very expensive and valuable lesson. But I believe we can learn from our mistakes - so I proceeded by doing a lot of research on my own. I wanted to know how to protect myself from something like this again. I spent weeks at the library and book stores and I watched several videos and I even researched online. I read anything and everything that I could find on how to file for a patent on your own. The information I found was overwhelming and difficult to understand. It took a lot of time and energy to sort through the information and break it down into simple and understandable steps that allowed me to proceed on my own. I realized that after all of this that I had created... A very simple guide to begin the patent process. And I am happy to share this information with you at no cost to you. It is my goal to teach people a simple way to begin the patent process while protecting themselves. I want to do my best to ensure that no one has to go through the painful experience of losing their invention to those that would take advantage. I wish you much success with your inventions! |
